We Got Married

Note: I haven't actually watched this show. I just really like the concept of it.

If anybody wants to play with anybody else here in an AU feel free to hop in and drop a top level or something.

For people who have never heard of the show. We Got Married info is here. And my characters are going to be AU'd into a world where they're debuting idols and looking for their break.

They said it would be good publicity and a way to show the world what kind of person he really was so there wasn't any reason for Snow to deny coming onto this kind of variety show, no matter how gimmicky it was. To be honest, he'd never thought about marriage nor had he really ever thought about relationships. Especially after you debut into this kind of world, the rumours that go around the way the media tears you down and follows you around. Who would want that? Any anyway, there might be someone from his past he was still struggling to get over. Sometimes, time doesn't heal all wounds and regardless of how long you've spent away from someone, they just sometimes pop up in your head.

Can't walk into a new relationship with that kind of baggage.

And this was just going to be a fake relationship on TV anyway. Although, he was a little nervous that his first meeting with this person was going to be on air and they wouldn't even give him a name but knowing the other person was going to be in the same position helped.

Snow runs a hand through his hair, clears his throat and smiles at the staff before slightly awkwardly taking a seat at the table in the cafe where they've set up the first meeting to at least appear like a first date. Or, first date after you got married anyway. He nudges at the cup before him with a finger, wondering what kind of person he could be set up with. Some kind of stereotypical cute girl that would look good standing with him, right? Isn't this what the show was about?

School was a lifetime ago, it feels like. Now that he's been out in the world and building his career, Jaehyeon feels like he's properly left all of that behind.

Just about, anyway. There's one thing he never really left behind, one person he was never really over no matter how much time had passed or how much space had been left between then and now.

Even that seems a long way off today as he prepares for this show appearance. He doesn't get it but his agent insists that getting him in front of the cameras will bring more attention to the films he makes. That's important to him, so if he has to endure some cheesy reality show to get there, then so be it.

He arrives at the cafe, mildly annoyed that he doesn't know who he's meeting. He's sure it's to preserve some element of surprise, to show his real reaction at being introduced to whatever pretty up and coming actress or idol trainee or whoever it is they're pairing him with. He has to admit, he'd do it that way too, were he the director here.

It's easy enough, at least, to pick out which table he's meant to go to, with the cameras pointed and the cameramen hovering. He can't see who awaits him as he makes his way over. Jaehyeon drops into a polite bow immediately, murmuring a hello, before he gets into his seat.

And promptly has the shock of his life.

"...Snow?"

The person who sits down in front of him was not a pretty girl of any sort. Not anybody he was expecting but his heart skips a beat. Actually, many beats as his eyes widen and is likely to be the best reaction the producers have ever had upon a first meeting. Before he's able to respond, Snow frantically glances around towards where he had last seen his manager standing. The manager who, helpfully, just gives him two thumbs up. Somebody knew something about his past and he needed to know who it was.

But now was not the time.

It was very obvious that he was a little shaken, and by somebody that should know him as well as the one sitting in front of him, at least he should know it wasn't a bad reaction, just one that really caught him off guard. Snow's cheeks were flushed, and his words were coming out as a slight jumble. "J-Jae..." Before he realized the cameras were still rolling. "...hyeon sshi. I - I've heard so much... about you." The last few words were breathed out with a sigh, going slightly more red in the face and unable to meet his eyes.

It was obvious it wasn't their first time meeting but hopefully the viewers would just take it as him being flustered he met somebody that he admired.

In all his life Jaehyeon has never been good at hiding how he feels, or what he's thinking, every thought and emotion writ large across his face. Thankfully, the one writ largest in this moment is surprise, the confusion and longing more fleeting.

Snow's recovery gives him a good hook to pull one of his own. He summons a brighter smile--the same wide, toothy, dimpled smile he smiled as a much younger man, that much hasn't changed--bowing slightly in his seat.

"Thank you. As I have of you. Please forgive my surprise, I wasn't expecting to be paired with someone so illustrious."

Oh, dear lord, he hasn't changed and that makes Snow's cheeks flush a slightly darker red and he's scrambling to take a sip from his cup to hide this. Although this pretense is giving him a large twisting pang right through his chest, there wasn't much they could do now but fight through, right?

Then as soon as this initial filming is over, maybe he could pull him aside to...have some kind of talk. This filming was going to be a few months, how long could they really hide this for? And living with him...on a set...

There's a quiver in his voice as he struggles to answer although he tries, and triumphantly fails, to inject some light-hearted laughter into his response. "This is going to be a wonderful experience, getting to know you." Again.

Jaehyeon is managing to keep his composure. By distracting himself a bit, mentally composing his list of people he is gonna strangle over this. So far? His agent. His manager.

But what can he do? He wants to keep his private life private--that's why he'd objected to even signing on to this show in the first place. And he's keenly aware of how much harder having any kind of private life is for an idol, how the smallest bit of fan disapproval can ruin the trajectory of someone's career.

So he holds it together, gives no indication he knows Snow at all besides through the media, or that he's having any kind of reaction to this pairing-up besides surprise.

"I feel the same way."

On all fronts.

The biggest question was who in their past had released this information to their managers and ended up setting this up. Snow was sure that the few friends he still had from those days wouldn't have said anything and any photos or memories that he had kept were locked away since his debut.

Not that he was embarrassed of these memories. Far from that. He had wanted to protect them as much as he could. He smiles towards Jaehyeon, the same smile he had back in the day, wistful and gentle, while talking about all of the boring things in their career for the next few moments until the camera turned off.

Once the PD has called cut, he was up as quick as anything and, without thinking, grabs the other boy by the hand and pulls him towards their (now joint since they've been unveiled to each other) dressing room. A quick glance around to make sure nobody had followed them and the door is locked like they had to get changed without anybody around.

Well, they did need to get changed. Locking out their wardrobe coordinators was probably against everything he had learned but this was more important.

"Did you..." ...know this was going to happen? "How did..." ...they know? "I've..." missed you...

If he could get a full sentence out, the conversation would probably go much smoother.

[ For someone who just graduated from a cute girl group into her own solo act and her first song having her dressed as a cat girl, Mai is still pretty peppy and will likely always be peppy. And who could turn down being on a show like this one and be able to show your true self to the camera? Although, she was really nervous as she sat there, her hands around her cup of hot chocolate, a shy smile on her face as she's to meet her "husband" for the first time in front of all the cameras set up in this tiny little cafe.

Gotta look natural, right? Gotta make this all seem real for the fans who are watching. And also prepare for the fall out in the media if they look really bad together or for the constant labelling and pairing if they look good together. Either way, it was going to help with her career and she was getting really excited. ]

[meanwhile, this guy from his group has no idea what he's being set up with. all he knows is that this will be great for him, and if he does want to break into being a full talent, hey. what better option? at least he'll get to meet some people in the business and a cute girl, right?

it's not hard to figure out where to go. he'd been told which table, and anyway, there's a path of cameras leading that way.]

Hey there.

[ She abruptly stands from her seat, her smile breaking wide and ducking her head just slightly. She has a long hard think for a moment, she recognized him from somewhere. Orange? She could be wrong. Something about him reminded her of oranges. ]

Hi! I'm Mai.

[ She reaches out her hand with a wide smile. He was cute. Hopefully that would just make this season of recordings that much more fun. ]

[maybe, but only because it's his Thing. sometimes themes go crazy. it definitely started because he did ads for that OJ]

Mai, huh? That's kinda cute. Nice to meet you, I'm Kouta.

[the only smiler wider is his. genuinely delighted to meet you!]

[ Well, this is going well. Even though it's a little awkward but these kinds of shows are always awkward, aren't they? You're basically fast tracking a relationship. ]

I hope to have a good time with you on this show.

[ Even as she ducks her head a little and laughs just that little bit awkwardly. ]

Have you heard anything about what we're going to be doing? I watched the last season and some of the things are a little embarrassing.

[ She says even as she's keeping in mind those cameras are still rolling! ]

Yeah, same here. I hope I don't disappoint any.

[he is a very sincere little goober at least. he'll take his seat beside her, so forward, and shake his head. he's barely even seen this show; just caught a couple clips after he found out he was cast on it. he is much more outdoorsy than pop culturey.]

Sorry, no clue. How embarrassing should I expect?

[ Her first assignment after her solo debut was going to be on a cute show called "We Got Married"? She was all over that. The chance to finally show the world how she really was off stage - not that it was any different - and to show them that she could do housey things (okay she can't cook but she can try) and look and care about someone. Even if it was fake and for TV she was going to put her all into it.

As she sat there, with her hands around the warm drink, she was getting nervous butterflies in her stomach but the smile on her face was still wide. She would give this 110% regardless of who walked in front of her. Although the cameras around them made the atmosphere a little bit awkward, she was determined to make this relationship with her "husband" seem as normal as possible. ]

[ It's been a long time since his debut, which is why Kaito knows how to work a crowd. The way he walks forward towards you is full of confidence, every step sure and planned out. When you come closer, he rakes the sight of you in, his eyes traveling from your eyes, your nose, your lips and lower hungrily.

This is purely for publicity but he can't deny that he's attracted to you. You suit his tastes perfectly and he's seen you before as well. The first time had been on a commercial you'd done for a dessert line of Apple pies. At the time, he'd been appreciative of how wholesome you'd looked, but mostly he'd been captivated by your voice.

So when he walks up to you, he holds his hand out to you with a smirk on his face. ]

Takatsukasa Mai, I presume?

[ There is a light smile on her face as she watches him walk him, although that's followed by a small laugh as she notices that smirk. She'd definitely seen him around. Someone very sure of himself. She wasn't sure why he would sign up for this kind of show but she was sure she would find out soon. ]

That would be me. And I definitely recognize you, Kumon Kaito-san.

[ She'd be letting down her agency if she didn't know that particular name, knowing how much of a powerhouse he was. Getting her paired up with someone like him would be a boost for her own career. What was he getting out of it though? Hm. ]
